Flashbacks, anxiety or distress when you think back on a previous birth are more common than many people realise. Talking it through with someone trained to help can make sense of what happened and help you feel more prepared and in control this time.
Speak to your GP, who can refer you to a counsellor, or to the Bathurst Maternity Unit Manager, who can support you to move forward after a difficult birth. The Australasian Birth Trauma Association also has helpful information and support.
