Planning for a pregnancy
The resources below may be useful when you are considering starting a family.
Vitamins and minerals
Even before you start trying to get pregnant, try to eat a balanced, whole food diet with a range of fresh fruits, vegetables, healthy carbohydrates and adequate fats and proteins. If you are doing this already, you probably don’t need a complete pregnancy multivitamin as you are already likely getting what you need from your diet. It is important however for all women planning a pregnancy to supplement their diet with FOLATE and IODINE- ideally for 3 months before conception and for the first 12 weeks of pregnancy.
There may be other recommendations that your GP or midwife suggests depending on your personal medical history. Learn more about the importance of folate and iodine below
